Vineyard Haven USA - NASSP News Report

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

The snow is falling on the Vineyard and the wind is blowing 35 kts but the temp is 32 degrees F or 0 degrees C…….

Much has happened over the last few months:

ISAF recognized the kitesailing speed records and Alex’s overall record is officail.

The big boats have gone on a tear and are pushing the limits.  Sail rocket set a record, maxed the GPS out at 51kts and back flipped, Hydroptere set a record and capsized after hitting 61kts and Marcquarie Innovation set a new record of over 48kts in under 20kts of wind.

The boats are really pushing the speeds and their vessels.  Congratulations to the 3 big boat programs.

The NASSP team has been hard at work training and developing equipment in order to increase out top speeds in 2009.  Cabrinha is developing the kites that will allow us to push 100 km per hour.  Curtis is working on the next generation of fins that helped us break the 50kt barrier last fall.  Lynch Associates has joined the team again in the persuit of a NASSP overal world title and new records.  A new top secret board builder might join NASSP.  New team members are joining us as we prepare to assemble for the French event in Port St. Louis Du Rhone.  NASSP team members just got back from our secret training grounds in Central America aslo known as ”Top Gun” where we had 10 days of wind and sailed 7, 9, 10 and 11 meter kites.  4 new boards were tested against last years Amundsons and the new shapes are getting faster.

More news to come shortly as the 2009 season starts to heat up!  Will advise
